training a deaf pup…what do you think of the vibrating collar for help with recall?

hi we have 2 pups and have just discovered that our 7 week old lab is daef after a trip to the vets…we have not picked up on it as when my partner asksthem to sit before food and shouts them in off the garden the lab copies our staff and we thought this was due to my staff pup being abit older it now turns out my lab pup is deaf.
I have been told that the vibrating (not shock) collar is an effective tool to gain their attention for recall etc after the pup has learnt the hand signals…as obviously he will not hear me shout him to return but was told that the vibration will make him look to me for a signal if he is trained to do this.
what are your opinions of vibrating collars or other training tools for deaf dogs thanks
