Using a furminator on a show dog’s coat?

I have an australian shepherd that I brush every day. I use an undercoat rake, pin brush, Slicker Brush, and a comb to fininsh. If I use the furminator, will it damage the top coat? Does the furminator remove too much fur?

Do not use on a show coat! It will strip out the undercoat and partially damage the guard hairs. When showing you want the coat to be in as good of condition as possible. If your dog is shedding coat, use an undercoat rake while spritzing the dog with a light mist of a water/conditioner mixture (1/30 mix) This will keep the flying hair to a minimum while letting the undercoat rake slide through easily without breaking guard hairs.

Use a power dryer to move out dead hair.
