Is pennies in a can a good training tool?

My dog is a puppy, and gets very snippy and gets into alot of things hes not suppose to. Many trainers told me, put a couple pennies in a can and shake it, it will startle them a littel and eventualyl they will stop the bad behavior, is this true/?

We tried the pennies in a can thing with our pup and it didn’t work at all. She just wanted to play with the can, and would usually bark and jump at it. It was really funny, but it didn’t exactly teach her she was doing wrong. We’ve been using a squirt bottle filled with water, and that’s been working much better. If she barks (that’s her main problem) she gets a squirt in the face. She really hates it, and now all we have to do is go get the bottle and she’ll stop barking.

Different things work for different owners and their dogs. You’ll probably have to try several different techniques before you find what your puppy responds to. Good luck!
