Puppy training (pee & Crate)?

I just got a 7 1/2 week old american bulldog. i want to crate train him. i put him int he crate last night and around 4 i heard him barking but i did not get up to let him out. i woke up and he pooped all over. i dont want to get him out at night cuz i dont want to make it a habbit. i work all day and my boyfriend gets home around 2-3. i know thats a long time but wat can i do so he dosent poop and pee in the crate? is it better just to keep him in the kitchen untill he can hold it longer? what do i do??

At that age, he needs to be let out every 3 or 4 hours. The rule of thumb for a puppy being able to hold it is # of months +1, so at almost 2 months, the longest he can go is 3 hours.

Sleepless nights are all part of bringing home a new puppy! As he gets older, he’ll be able to hold it longer and you’ll get a full nights sleep again.

Keep using the crate, just make sure you let him out frequently, even at night. Bring him outside, let him do his business, then put him back in the crate so he doesn’t think it’s playtime. If you stay up with him and let him play, THEN you’ll be creating bad habits, but letting a pup out 2 times a night is NOT creating bad habits, the poor thing can’t hold it!
