Training Harness Police

What do I need to do to work in the computer security field?

I have a BS in criminal justice, I have graduated from a police academy and I am 24. I am having trouble being hired as a police officer, so I am considering a career in computer (internet, network, etc.) security. What degree or certificates do I need in order to find a job in this field? How long would it take, does the position allow you to travel internationally? I have an ENTP personality if that helps and I want something with more freedom and something that harnesses my interest in computers although I have had no training whatsoever in this field.
Specifically, protecting networks from hackers and what not.
In regards to travel, I wanted to know if consultants in the field did much traveling.

If you want a degree in a computer field today you need at least a masters degree with ten years of high level field experience.

The economy is so bad that there are hundreds of thousands of I.T. people ready to take any job they can find.
