what kind of training do you need to be a corrections officer in florida? and what is the starting pay?

my dad says 4 mo. schooling and about 40k/ year…am i being lied to

I work in Ohio, but the standards are literally the same here. I read your note at the bottom also. I am not judging, but I will save you some embarrassment later down the road. By state law, we are drug tested three times a year. Failure of a single test will force you to take voluntary drug rehab (which YOU pay for in full,,,,no insurance on this one) and mandatory drug testing one a month for a year (which YOU pay for in full again). Youo are also placed on a last chance agreement. If you pop positive again during your career, you are walked out the door. Period. More and more states are having a zero tolerance for drug usage. As of this moment in time, we are still using urine testing, but we were told that the state may switch to hair follicle testing in the near future, which will tell anything you have done in the last 12 months, so our testing will be done annually then. My advice would be to try another line of work if having a joint now and then is that important. In either case, I do wish you the best of luck.
