Aggressive Dog Problems?
I have a year and a half old mixed breed dog who as of late is getting VERY annoying with his problems.
He doesn’t do well when you tell him to ‘do’ something. If you tell him to go outside, he will, but when you close the door he’s trying to bite and grab you. If you tell him to go into his crate, he does the same thing after the door is closed.
If he isn’t allowed to see who is knocking at the door he gets very aggressive and outright scary- we have to lock him in another room just to answer the door for a postman.
He’s set for a neuter on Monday (he’s 1yr and 2months) and we’ve had him for nearly 10 months now.
Will the neuter help with this problem, and can I get a shock/vibration collar and use this as a corrective tool every time he gets aggressive?
I’m very near giving him up- I don’t want an aggressive dog in my home. We’ve tried all types of training (even the “NILF” program), the vets tell us he’s a ‘normal’ dog (no disorders or brain issues). HELP!
The shock collar will only make things worse. The neutering can potentially help. It sounds like he has anxiety problems. You need to teach him that it isn’t a bad thing to be left outside, or for a stranger to come to the door. Use treat rewards, not punishment. Your punishments have the opposite effect of what you are aiming for.
