how to take better care of my teeth?

scince i have been pregnant i have not been able to brush my teeth properly as every time my toothbrush goes towards the back of my mouth it makes me gag and i was woundering if anyone knows a way to help stop this? thanks
its not the taste of toothpaste thats making me gag its the toothbrush going to my back teeth

I’v had the same problem – unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do. I’ve also had really bad bleeding and swollen gums which my dentist really helped with – she explained that the reaction comes up to plaque so brushing harder and better actually helps (no matter how much the bleeding). Why don’t you avoid putting your toothbrush towards the back, but use some interdental brushes instead? They’re much smaller, and if you dip them in medicated mouthwash (I highly recommend Corsadyl) then it clears the plaque really well. I’d recommend using medicated mouthwash anyway if you feel like you’re not brushing thoroughly enough.
Dental problems are really common in pregnancy – you will probably have to take more care of your teeth than usual!
