What would be the minimum size tank for one (maybe two) plecos?

I dont know the breed, but I will get them from walmart when they are the smallest size that I can find. I might get a 5-10 gallon tank. Would that be okay? I read that their size depends on food and the tank size.

the smallest size tank that is appropriate for a pleco is 30 gallons, but that is only for a dwarf species of pleco. The ones at wall-mart are most likely to be bristle nose, which are dwarfs. Or common pleco, which grow to 2 feet long, and need much larger tanks. evan as babies.
Plecos are chunky messy fish that create a lot of mess, the can not live in small tanks as they have a huge bio-lode. You should never keep more than one pleco in a tank, they are aggressive to other plecos.
The size of a fish is not determined by how much you feed it, If you don’t feed it enough, it might grow slower, and likely it might become aggressive during feeding time.
Fish do not grow to fit their tank size. But a fishes growth can be stunted if it is in a tank that is too small for it. That is why you should always stock your tank according to the potential adult size of the fish you get. If a fish is in a very small tank, Its body will release a hormone into the water that tells it to stop growing. the bones can stop growing for awhile, and eventually become permanatly deformed. The organs unfortunatly, never stop growing, and when their is no room for the organs to function in the deformed skeletal structure, the fish will die.
