How effective would shading a house’s shingle roof be against the summer sun?

I want to maybe try putting together something like a camo net (only with white strips or “popcorn”) to shade the half of my house’s roof (that is not visible from the street; re; city code). Maybe only allowing 50% of the sun to penetrate to the roof. Something easily placed on the roof with plastic jackstands of some kind, that can easily be taken back up during stormy weeks.
or would it be better to invest in electric fans to ventilate the attic?

I worry that this would be trapping debris on the roof especially in the fall. The average shingle should last 15-20+ years so if you do this only in the summer on half the roof you’d add only a small amount to the life span. Then would you replace half the roof in year 15 say then the other half in year 18? It would probably end up being more expensive doing that.

Adding a roof fan will help keep the temperature down but the most benefit would be in helping keep the house cooler which should save your air conditioning cost. I’ve seen some solar roof vents but I don’t know how effective they are but as you would expect you’d have sun when it’s hot you should have free power for it but I’m not sure I trust them yet.
