Suede Leather

can you spray Faux Suede or leather boots to protect them from water without ruining them?

I have 2 pairs of boots, they are faux (suede and leather). I live on the westcoast and it rains a lot. Will I damage the boots if I spray them with a product that protects shoes from water? it doesn’t say anything about faux on the can.

I’m not sure about the pleather, but the faux suede will turn color and start to look a little nasty (like how an old shirt eventually gets pill on it). I’d suggest avoiding wearing the faux in the rain, and maybe even investing in a pair of sweet rain boots, or even “timbs” (made of real leather and can be sprayed as needed without worry).
