Spetsnaz GRU hand-to-hand combat style Spetsnaz GRU hand-to-hand combat style is a martial art system taught by Alexander Popov (Martial Artist) to reconnaissance and saboteur units of the GRU. The system was developed in the 1920′s and 1930′s. The system is taught at certain units together with systema and combat or military sambo but has no relation to them. It is based on Hung Gar style, Shaolin Kung Fu. It also contains aspects of Russian Combatives, and various chinese and russian styles of fighting. The main purpose of the system is to teach the students a close, fast, and deadly combat, protecting them and causing harm to the opponent as fast as possible. The system is also concentrated in fighting multiple enemies, and training in several weapons – such as various sticks or knives, bayonets, mounted knives, the AK-47, spetsnaz shovels, double pistol wielding (Macedonian Style, ) e.t.c. It is also concentrated on giving the fighter the ability to survive in extreme conditions, and to be able to leave and come stealthily to a fight. |
