ARE ANTI-BARK SYSTEMS LEGAL TO USE ON A NEIGHBOR’S DOg?

I read a patent for discouraging dogs from barking. The system hears the dog’s bark on a microphone, and instantly transmits the exact bark back, except the return bark is at a high frequency.
This is humane in that it merely causes confusion and the dog stops barking, supposedly. The effect is like when a person is speaking into a mike on a public address system and the speakers start squealing.
I have the ability to build this system to use on a neighbor’s barking dog, however………………
Is it legal to do???

Good question.

I would think on YOUR property, then yes, it would be legal. They’ve done nothing to stop their dogs barking, and you aren’t going to be harming the dog. So why not?

I would contact your local Animal Control and see what they have to say about it first, just in case, but I bet it won’t be any big deal.
