How do I begin to learn to trim my 6 lb. Poodle?

I recently adopted him from a shelter. He is 6 yrs. old and knows some words like “stay” when I go in and out of the house. He is a Lap Dog and very gentle. Loves to play with soft squeaky toys & fetch. He has bad tear stains under the eyes and I want to trim his face close. I want to keep him in a puppy clip. We have the best clippers with a size 10 blade only, that Pets Mart uses in their store for grooming. I just know nothing about what size blades I need, and if I should get steel or ceramic.~~~Can you help or lead me in the right direction ? I sure would appreciate your help in knowing also what I am up against. I am 80 yrs. old but I have a steady hand. Thanks.
