Spray Bark collar’s? do they work?

so for barking i don’t like to use the shock collars i’m not opposed to Training Shock collars if used correctly. so i just rescued a 5 mo old Aussie pup and she has a barking problem do the spray collars work? I’ve been using a spray bottle but i can’t monitor 24 7 my only opposition is i don’t want to use it for the rest of her life.

my jack russell when i moved into a new apartment building where the mail came through the door, she was no too fond of that, as were many of the other dogs, and all would get barking and mine would join in but not stop … i got complaints … rented a citronella collar …

Day 1 – put collar on, left for work, arrived home, entire apartment reeked of citronella, she had emptied the cartridge

Day 2 – put collar on, left for work, arrived home, mild scent of citronella

Day 3 – put collar on, left for work, arrived home, only her chin smelled of citronella

Day 4 – put collar on, left for work, arrived home, no smell

Day 5 – put collar on, left for work, arrived home, bumped into neighbour who informs me the dog has not made a sound in a few days

Day 6 and 7 she did not wear the collar i was there

Day 8 – put the collar on went to work, came home from work when the postal person usually shows up and sat in the stairwell to see for myself that she did not bark … and she did not … i spoke to the postal person and she told me that she used to be afraid of my door because my dog sounded so aggressive so she thought i had got rid of the dog !!! i told her my dog weighed 14 pounds and she just laughed at that :O)

the collar worked on my dog and it worked fast and efficiently … and no trauma to the dog other than the unpleasant smell of citronella … the ones that just blow air are of no use …

the charge to rent was 20 dollars for two weeks with a 50 dollar deposit … if you needed it more than two weeks you could just keep it and they kept the deposit … but you can buy them on ebay for 50-60 dollars including the citronella can to refill …
