Sonic Bark Collar

Looking for a Vet in Santa Cruz/San Jose area who does debark surgery,?

I have an Aussie with anxiety issues. She is one of 3 dogs so she is rarely alone. She works livestock on the weekends and is walked several miles each weekday when I get home from work. All of the dogs are with me, indoors and out when I am home. But I can’t always be home, I have to work. When I am not home she barks almost nonstop. I know this because of complaints from my neighbors. I have tried sonic bark inhibitors, several brands of bark collars (spray and shock) and even put her on doggie prozac. Nothing has proved to be a viable solution to the situation. I love the dog and she is great when I am with her. Short of someone with her 24/7, I don’t see how stop the barking. I feel that surgery is my best option at this point. I need recommendation to find a reputable vet who provides this service.

Training: I would respectfully suggest you read a couple of books and watch some videos on raising and training dogs. Also, I recommend two TV shows, “The Dog Whisperer” with Cesar Millan on the National Geographic Channel, and “It’s Me or the Dog,” with Victoria Stillwell, on Animal Planet. Both programs are very instructive and often deal with the issues you raise here. Good luck!

The use of shock collars, electric fencing, and other such devices has shown to cause emotional, social, and physical damage to a dog. They become anxious and aggressive, or lethargic. Dogs become difficult to train for fear of the shock, and over stressed. All of this leads to cardiac anomalies, convulsions, liver and kidney issues, and digestive problems.
