What are the very large black cats that people sometimes see here in East Texas?
Periodically people claim that they have seen a very large mountain lion like mammal here in East Texas, but he is black. I didn’t think much of these sightings until an extremely credible individual that I know saw one cross the highway while going to work one morning. He works at a school in the back woods here in East Texas. He indicated that the large cat was chasing a large dog, and that they disappeared in the woods. I know mountain lions do not have a black form. We live in Northeast Texas. What species of mammal would this most likely be? I have a couple of ideas, but want to know what others think.
I asked my brother again about the incident on the cat he saw. The dog that the large cat was chasing was hit by a car, in crossing the final lanes of traffic and was killed. The cat kept going into the woods. And it was a large cat like creature similar to a mountain lion, but black.
