Is it okay for my dog to lick his wound?

My dogs foot got accidentally stepped on, by a careless walker, and he has a small skid like wound on his foot. He keeps wanting to lick it. Is that okay, or will it cause an infection?

It won’t necessarily Cause an infection, but you don’t want him licking it too much either.
Keep an eye on him, if he licks it alot and it looks like he’s making it worse, you’ll need to put a cone on him.
