Is there a simple solution out there that allows me to plug my turn table into an amp?
I need a easy solution to plug my turn table into an amplifier for better sound quality/higher volume without distorting my mixes. Any ideas?
Do you want to plug in a turntable or a mixer?
Your best bet is to use a mixer (like Numark, Gemini, etc). Plug the turntable into that, and then to the amp.
Before records are pressed, they have special equalization applied to them that boosts the high significantly, and cuts the lows. If you’ve ever heard of the RIAA curve, that’s when they’re talking about. If they didn’t do that, a large bass signal would cause the stylus to jump out of the groove.
When the turntable is connected to the mixer, a complimentary curve is applied to the signal (highs are cut, lows are boosted) so that the recording sounds correct.
With the mixer, you’ll also have control of the volume and possibly some further EQ.
