Shirt Size

Not sure what size shirt I should buy for my tall skinny friend?

As a thank you gift I want to buy my friend a shirt he’s been wanting for ages. Thing is I don’t want him to get suspicious and ruin the surprise so I can’t ask him what size he takes. I’d buy him a medium but I’m worried it wouldn’t fit him length wise, he’s almost 6ft5. But he’s also one of the skinniest people I know so I am also worried that a large would be far too baggy on him.
What size would you recommend?

I’d say the medium if he likes his shirts fitted.

If he wears them loose, go with large.
