dog terrified of scissors…??

I have a toy poodle who is about 6 months old. I gave her a haircut using a pair of grooming scissors about 3 months ago. Now her fur is growing all over her eyes, and I’m trying to cut it again, but every time she sees the scissors she runs away. I try to hold her down, but she starts squirming. I’ve tried to do it when she’s sleeping, but she wakes up the second they touch her fur. I don’t know why she is doing this, because nothing traumatizing ever happened to her with scissors before, so I don’t know why she’s afraid of them. You can’t even see her eyes anymore because they’re covered with so much fur.
Instead of getting her professionally groomed, does anyone know how I can cut her fur without her getting scared?

You need to condition the dog to the scissors. Start small get some one to help you. Sit with her have the person show her the scissors and at the exact same time give her a treat and praise. Do this until she sees the scissors and shows no concern or even excitment anticipating the treat and praise. Then move closer and repeat. Eventually do this until you can bring the scissors all the way to her face. Then open and close infront of her with out cutting treatingand conditoning the whole time. Then start cutting a little bit at a time. This whole proccess can take a few months so you made need a groomer in the mean time.
