Do yu think a “kong” will stop my dog from jumping the safety gate?

we have a safety gate for him to stop him from going into other rooms, he is only allowed to stay in our room. thing is, when we leave the house or we’re not in the room, he jump the newly bought gate. we pulled it very high today but we came home to find him out still. anyway, today we ran out of toilet paper and i remembered the kong idea. so i put peanut butter into the ends of the roll and i watched an entire episode of simpsons without him whining or trying to jump the gate! i was amazed he didn’t care that i wasnt in the room! i just bought a kong off ebay and its getting shipped to me but do you think he will get sick of the peanut butter? or get sick of the entire toy and try and jump the gate again?
what do you think the chances are of him trying to jump the gate after we get a kong keeping in mind he loved the toilet roll? we just bought the gate too, cant afford another one

Why do you have him penned? How old is he? The kong will not keep him from jumping the gate. The kong is only a temporary solution a will only deter is attention for a short time.

Get a crate and don’t pen him in the kitchen or any other room. Only use the crate when you are unable to watch her but make sure the crate is of the proper size. Crates should just be big enough to allow the dog to stand up, stretch and turn around in. Dogs will not relieve themselves in the area they are sleeping unless they absolutely cannot hold it.

When he is inside and out of the crate you can tether him to you, so that you can watch him closely. This also teaches him to be on a lead and at the same time he can be with you. If you don’t want to tether him then when he’s not crated you have to watch him like a hawk, not only in case he relieves herself, but for his own safety. He will chew things he shouldn’t that can be very dangerous. Many dogs have been electrocuted because of chewing through power cords. He could also chew table legs, drywall, baseboards and anything else that suits his fancy.
