Craftsman Sears garage door opener is not closing properly – best way to fix it ?

the door will go down to about 6 inches to closing, and then reverses for no apparent reason, and then the opener lights blink for 5 seconds after reversing. The manual says to check the safety reversing sensor. remove any obstruction or align the receiving eye. there is no obstructions and both indicator lights are glowing steadily. Thank you for your help !

Well, *something* is making it think there’s an obstruction. See if there is a bent spot in the track or other reason the obstruction sensor is being tripped.

Or, the wires to the obstruction sensor are failing. A diagram and volt-ohmmeter will tell you for sure.
