How do you get the Rubber smell out of a RUBBER Ball?

How do you get the smell out of a RUBBER Ball?
My dog lost her favorite toy in the sewer, I replaced it with the same ball, but she will not play with it due to overwhelming rubber smell.

I’ve coating the ball in: tomato sauce, baking soda, compost, bacon grease, canned Dog Food, chicken broth. As a last resort, I brought it to the dog park for other dogs to play with and still she is mourning the loss of her ball and will not retrieve ANY ball.
I’ve also left the ball in the sun for weeks, nothing has seasoned this ball. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance
Today, I tried soaking in vinagar then borax and water, and baking soda and water….to no avail.

Maybe she got used to her own saliva smell and taste. Show her some food, she will salivate, collect it, coat the ball, freeze it or gel it with gelatin or jello (her favorite flavor?)
Or back to the jealousy angle and let her watch other dogs play with it. Dogs get jealous worse than people.
Or shape her food into balls until she gets used to eating ball shaped food and then coat the ball with the same food.
