Public restrooms while potty training?

When you were potty training your child/ren, what did you do while you were out in public? Did you use a portable fold up seat or hold them over the toilet? I just started potty training my 2 year old and he is doing really well at home for the most part. Just curious how you managed while out and about.

Also, how did you get your child to have a bowel movement on the toilet? That’s the part we’re ‘struggling’ with. Thank you!

Most potty chairs have adapters for the big potty…you could carry that around and slip that on a seat so he doesnt have to touch the public part….
As far as a BM…he’s JUST learning….performing a BM takes time. You have to be comfortable and patient….a lot of kids are still in the comfort zone in their diaper or pull-up for those but are willing to get a quick pee in the big boy/big girl potty. Once he has mastered a pee in the potty….staying dry for mulitple days at a time…then you can try, about 20 minutes or so after he eats, to have him just sit on the potty [the portable one] in front of the TV while he watches a favorite DVD. He’ll forget soon where he is and be so entertained and may just poop!!
