Personally, I think you need to work with a trainer before you try to use it by yourself.

In using it with my dog, I found that timing. is. everything. It has to be *precise*. It is too easy for an inexperienced person to become unaware of what to do in the particular situation they are training in, and press that button at the wrong time. You are not aware of what to do if you’re dog has an unexpected reaction to a command.

Using it at the wrong time can ruin a dog, and it is not a chance I am willing to take by trying it on my own without first consulting a professional.
