How long is a small puppy’s first heat?
I have a very, very small chihuahua (2.4 pounds, the runt of her litter) I was and still am planning on spaying her after the first of the year, but her first heat cycle came a little sooner than we anticipated. How long will she be bleeding for? Is it still safe to get her spayed next month?

Normal canine heat cycle is approximately 21 days.
After her cycle is over, you will have several months before she will be in again, so I would give her a little more time before spaying.
With the very small breeds, it is best to spay them at a little older age if possible.
