How to handle a pet’s death, for pet-sitters?

I work for a professional pet sitting agency, and over the weekend, a client of ours lost her dog to cancer. My boss and I are both rather upset, since this dog was with us since the beginning of the company, and we know the client is heartbroken. We feel like we should be there for her to help her cope with the loss, but we’re both at a loss for what exactly we can do.

What do you think your pet-sitter should/could do for you when you’re grieving? Any personal experiences?

i am so sorry to hear that ! instead of a sympathy card which will remind her of her loss , try a box of chocolates and some bright flowers celebrate the dogs life instead of grieveing about the death . if she would like to talk about it incourage her but if she doesnt totally leave it out until she is ready , i hope she gets over it very soon .

ps – i was reading an answer about a German Shepherd , i would also like to say how sorry i am for your loss aswell
