Should we use Pro-Pet Roundworm Liquid De-wormer on our cat?

My black cat has round worms, and so my mom went to the Wal-Mart to get a de-wormer. We haven’t taken her to the Vet yet, but I think we will sometime this week. In the meantime, I wanted to know if it would wise to use the de-wormer on her, and will it work? I know some stuff doesn’t work right away, but in the long run, will it be effective and get rid of the worms?
Also, we have 2 other cats, so if this black one has worms, does that mean that the other 2 do too?

No. Those OTC dewormers are basically useless and could even harm your cat. Tell your mom to get a refund and take the cat to the vet. The vet can specify the exact type of worms your cat has and prescribe an effective dewormer. Some worms are contagious so all your cats should be checked and treated. If you don’t want to bring them all, separate each in a different room with a litter box and collect stool samples from each. Put the samples in a ziplock bag and label with the cat’s name.
