Question with potty training my puppy?

I have a small puppy that is about 6 weeks old who I want to potty train. My husband wants to install a doggy door but he has not yet (and may not for a few weeks) so I need to decide on a potty training method–quick! Should I do crate training since she is primarily indoors or will a doggy pad do until we install the doggy door? I don’t want to confuse her. Also, my husband and I are at home during the day.

We trained our puppy to use the bathroom outside simply by taking her outside every four hour to go to the bathroom. At first she didn’t get it and would just want to play but sooner or later she would go and we would bring her back in. Also, if she had an accident in the house we would take her over to the “crime scene” and stick her nose right down next to it, it may sound cruel but it will teach the dog that the house is not an okay spot to use the bathroom. Dogs are smart animals and it will quickly learn the routine.
I don’t recommend using the mat because you want the dog to learn that going to the bathroom is for outside only so that when you build your doggy door it will be easier for you to train the dog.
