Puppy with split personality?

My puppy is 4 months old. We let him out of his playpen 2, 3 times a day for 15-30 min each to play fetching so that he gets enough exercise. He is usually a good puppy in the morning but in the afternoon or night, he sometimes seems overexcited and starts biting the towel and the training pad and tries to tear it apart. Sometimes he would dash around inside playpen like crazy. We have these items in his playpen since day one and he never did this. He’s teething but it seems he bites the training pad because he is playing with it.

If we try to take it away from him he starts barking. So far we just ignore him until he settle down after 15 seconds later. After a few minutes we put the pad back. Soon he started the crazy act again.

He did this several times last night and we took away to training pad and towel, turned off the light and pretended to go to bed. He settled down. After 15 minutes I put back the training pad and we all went to sleep.

What do we do wrong?

What did you do wrong? You got a pup…… when you have no idea of its needs or requirement, exercise, training, toileting………….this dog hasn’t a split personality it is bored out of its brain and being kept in jail, taught to toilet inside where it eats, sleeps, plays……….you mention no lead walking, no training, no classes, no mental stimulation, no NILIF………….rehome this poor dog or get reading and start doing
