How do I exercise my guinea pigs?

Wheels are bad for them, so are leads and harnesses and I’m not aloud to let them run around in a room which I know would be really fun for them. So how else can I exercise them? Obviously I can’t let them run around the yard because there are cats everywhere, and a million places where they could get out. Are there any other ways I can exercise them? They go in their playpen nearly everyday, but they don’t run around in it, do you have any ideas?

It’s easy! If you have grass (which you really SHOULD have because you have guinea pigs) then buy a run to put on the grass! They can play in it for hours during the summer, and usualkly wait until you are not nearby, or watching to play about on the grass and eat it. Tie the opening of the cage down so cats or any other animals can’t get in. Don’t get one with a wire bottom as it can damage their feet.

In the winter, bring them indoors into your house and get a huge wire cage thing, to put around them on newspaper on the floor, and you don’t have to supervise them if you do this. You can also cover the sofa in oldtowels, with some supervision and watch them run about and explore your sofa! You can do this in the summer too, but in winter these are 2 of your only options.

To get them to move around, try putting a piece of fruit or some veggies around the run and on the sofa, in the pen. The grass will encourage them to eat and move around to fresher patched of grass anyway.
