Dog rubbing nose and turning pink?

My dog (a Maltese) tries to bury his treats and food in his bed or in the carpet and it caused his nose to turn pink in color. How can I make him stop this? PS. I have told him to stop it, and tapped his nose lightly with my hand many times.

this can be a hard habbit to break. some dogs just do this out of instinct. I would say your best bet woud be to teach your dog to eat at her bowl. feed your dog once or twice a day, don’t leave food out all the time. if your dog walks away from her bowl, take it away and don’t give it back until the next feeding time. don’t worry, dogs learn fast when it comes to their food! until she learns to eat at her bowl, don’t give her any treats in between. once she is eating there, you can start giving her treats again. if she start to try to burry it, just take it away. as i said, dogs LOVE their food and will learn fast!
ADD: no need to punish your dog in any way if she starts to try to burry. taking away her food or treat is punishment enough!!
