Common Diseases: Scaly face disease – This is caused by Cnemodocoptes mites. These mites cause scales to appear on the affected area, usually the face, cere, eyelids and legs, and can cause beak deformities. what is the treatment for this

an old and simple tratment is a mineral oil applied to the scale area. a vegetable oil will work as well.

The idea is that the oil layer will kill the mites because thy cant breathe. You need to do it at least daily for several weeks. Keep doing it after the scale disappears to make sure any mite eggs are killed.

There are more modern mite treatments from the pet store.
