should i get rid of my pet red eared slider?????

i have a 2 year old red eared slider 2-3 inches that lives in a 10 gallon tank. i had him since he hatched out his egg but im getting bored of him and i was thinking of setting up a tropical tank with frogs,newts,and some fish or a bearded dragon. Should i or not?

If you feel you cannot take care of him any longer, then you shouldn’t. But please make sure he has a good home. Do not release him into the wild. Red-eared sliders have become an invasive exotic in many parts of the country. Plus, he may be carrying diseases for which wild turtles may have no immunity. He may not be able to survive in the wild, either.

If you want to get rid of him, advertise for a good home.

If you can’t find one, contact a turtle rescue organization. Here is an example:
