How best to cut or contain a dog’s nail? I have two Lhasas. never cared for their nails before. Please help.

My pets are 3 years (male) and two years old (F). Never bothered about their nails thinking to leave it on nature. Now I can see overgrown nails are pausing problem. tried with scissors, nail cutters but too thick to cut through.

As a dog groomer, I have to say that the safest way is to only take off the little points at the end of nail. Just a little tiny bit. If you walk them on concrete it kind of files them down. Please don’t cut your dogs nails to the size you think they should be. they bleed profusely. It.s even harder to cut black toenails, you can’t see the vein.
