Is Wahl a good brand for pet clippers?
I own a Wahl pet clipper,and I have had nothing but problems with it,I’m always having to realign the blades,and it keeps getting caught in my dogs hair when I’m shaving them,Is this a typical problem with this brand of clipper or is it just mine?Also could anyone suggest a better clipper (hopefully nothing to expensive).BTW,I always make sure my dogs have had a recent bath before shaving them,as I had read in the pamphlet that dirty hair can cause the clipper to cease up.
According to what the box says it is a “professional pet clipper”,I paid about $110 for it at petsmart.
I don’t care for Wahl & don’t know any groomers who use them on a regular basis.
Andis is my personal favorite to use or Oster is another good brand. A decent pair clipper from either brand at the basic level starts at $100+. It is really best to choose a pair in person where you can handle & test them to see what feels/fits best for you. Those cheap sets with multiple comb attachments are worthless & only human models re-packaged as pet clippers. Petedge.com usually has the best prices & widest selection on clippers & blades. Besides clipping on a clean dog, you must maintain clipper & blades properly after every use.
Add: of course box says professional – they are trying to sell you something. At Petsmart the cost will be quite a bit higher than from a pet supply co. that groomers purchase from. At that price/location my guess would be you did not purchase a model that groomers would use.
