Has anyone used that PEDI Paw Nail trimmer yet?

I have seen the Pedi Paw nail trimmer on TV and was wondering if anyone has used it yet? I’ve read a couple bad reviews about it but, wanted more opinions! I was also told that we could use a DREMEL tool and they have the nail trimmer drum and it works just as good but, do those come with more then one speed? My luck i’ll file my poor dogs whole paw off! LOL Any comments or ideas? THANX
I knew about the quick stop because like some of you have mentioned my yorkies nails are almost black and so hard to judge the quick and it breaks my heart if i clip it…it never seems to hurt him but, it does me! I wanted to try the dremel and the nail drum b/c i can take it slow and get familiar where his quick is at!

I have not used Ped Paw brand, but I have used nail grinders in my job as a groomer.

There are both pros and cons to any nail grinder – they do file the nail smooth, which is wonderful for both the dog and the person.

However, what they don’t tell you in the ads is that you can still cut the “quick” or the blood vessel in the dog’s nail, even with a grinder. So their claim that clippers hurt and these don’t is not true. Any time you clip a dog’s nails there is a danger of hitting the quick.
also, many dogs are afraid of the noise. Even a quiet grinder makes some noise, and they also all vibrate, which can be scary to the dog as well.

If you are planning to use a grinder, then I don’t think that any one is better than any other one. Just be careful, take it slow and easy, and have some “Quik Stop” powder handy. this is a yellow powder that you can get at most pet supplies stores. If you do accidentally cut the quick, put a little powder on your finger and dab the end of the nail – it will stop the bleeding.
