how to stop my dog being put down ?

If you read my previous question you will know my dog has been seized but anyway

my dog is regarded as a dangerous dog by the police and they will want him put down but i’ve heard i can get him back by proving he is not vicious or dangerous but he will have to be re-chipped, tattooed, neutered and be kept on muzzle and lead at all times?

how would i prove he isn’t vicious and do i need a lawyer?

Your dog is regarded as “dangerous” simply because of his breed. An Irish Blue Staffy is, under the Dangerous Dog Act, the same as a Pit Bull. If he had not been found roaming, there probably would not have ever been an issue, but once the dog is picked up as a stray, the law has been violated and he becomes the property of the state. It is illegal to have that breed of dog where you live. Regardless of what you’re willing to do, you purchased an illegal animal and based on the law, they have the right to take him away if he’s found wandering.

(I certainly don’t agree with it, I’m just presenting the facts.)

I would recommend hiring a lawyer, and planning to move with the dog. Now that they have a record of him being there, I see no way for you to keep him in an area where he is illegal. See if they would release him to you if you were relocating.

The law sucks, but as of right now, relocating is your only real option.

BSL is a load of BS and really doesn’t do anything it was intended to do.
