Should i vaccinate my dogs next month?
They had all their shots as puppies. Now my 14 mo Pug is meant to have his booster shots next month. The youngest is meant to have his in February 2011.
I feed them both a Raw diet and theyre both in perfect health. Should i continue to worm them every 6 months (Milbemax) and should i have them vaccinated yearly or every few years? I read annual vaccines are unnecessary.
My dad has a 16 year old JRT x that hasn’t had worming or a vaccine since a young pup and has never been sick.
What do i ? They go to dog shows often so could be likely to get things like Kennel cough?
Pamela. Because they’re puppies. Next month would be their FIRST booster. They;ve had their puppy shots.
..So at the moment they ARE up to date on their vaccines. i was just wondering about next month.
There’s lots of info. at the Yahoo Group Truth About Vaccines.
Toy dogs suffer more adverse vaccine reactions than larger ones. Why? Because they give the same size dose to all of them. Some dogs have died in the Vet‘s office, others in the car on the way home, others at home, some a week later, some a few weeks later… Many vets have the nerve to suggest that the vaccines were not the trigger, even when it’s obvious that no other event took place that could possibly have done the damage. Though they’re required by law to report it, they’d rather not bother to do unpaid paper work.
The so-called science behind vaccines is actually extremely questionnable, and annual boosters are considered to be just an income booster for vets. There is considerable evidence to show that vaccination is harmful to a dog’s (and our) own immune systems.
Dogs who have never ever been vaccinated have had blood titre tests that show high levels of antibodies to various doggy diseases including Rabies…
Dogs do not need to be “wormed” regularly, especially if they spend most of their lives in the house, and notwithstanding, a healthy immune system does not harbour worms as readily as an unhealthy one.
I have never had a dog “wormed” and all fecal tests have always come out worm free. Go figure. I also feed Raw Meaty Bones.
If I had known of all the nonsense hyped regarding vaccines, I would never have even had the puppy shots.
The only vaccine that some jurisdictions insist on is Rabies (new standard every 3 years). The problem is, check the local incidence of Rabies and you usually find a low or absent incidence. I live in an area where the vector for Rabies is brown bats. I have a bigger chance of getting bitten by a bat than the dog. Are they insisting I get a Rabies shot?
There is no legal requirement for any other vaccination. Parvo is only dangerous to dogs under 6 months of age. Keep them away from other dogs and streetscapes and in your own yard until they’re old enough to handle it. Moreover, unless it’s a huge problem in your area –find out — you probably have nothing to worry about.
It’s amazing how the status quo in the various medical professions scare up income by scaring us.
