Metallic Dog
My dog’s vagina is totally grossing me out?
I have a 5 year old Chihuahua. This has been an ongoing problem, but lately it’s been happening a lot. Her vagina smells awful. It’s like a metallic/slightly fishy smell. Today, she somehow or another rubbed her vagina on me and it was wet and smelled AWFUL on my arm. I mean, terrible. It’s so gross. I’m worried that there may be something wrong with her. It only happens at certain times and when it DOES happen, it’s like she knows, because she immediately turns around and licks it. I don’t know if it’s burning her or bothering her in some way but it’s really concerning me. Has anybody else had this problem with their female dog?
I forgot to add that my dog IS fixed so I know that’s not the problem.
The fishy smell makes me think it might actually be her anal glands. They need to be emptied. If she isn’t spayed then a uterine infection is also a possibility. She needs to see a Vet either way.
