Many Breeds

Many Breeds
How many different breeds of dogs have you owned?

Me? Just 2. But I want to experience different breed in the future! It’s hard to settle on which breed I want, so why stick with just one?

How many of the same breed of dogs have you have? Like 3 chihuahuas?
Also, have you had all boys or all girls? I’ve only had girls, but they were all adopted. I have nothing wrong with males, but I’ve just never had one!
Wow, Angel, you sound like my family!

I’ve had:

2 Newfoundlands, male and female, named Bear and Sarah
1 Newfoundland/Chow mix, female, named Lady
1 Miniature Schnauzer, female named Chelsea
1 Husky/German Shepherd mix, female, named Shaela

And just for the record in the past I’ve also had:

7 cats, male and female, named Samantha, Blue, Silver, Miracle, Chester, Cotton, and Midnight

4 guinea pigs, male, Cocoa, Patches, Peppie, and Rodney

4 hamsters, female, Meeko, Tink, Cinnamon, and Sugar

3 rabbits, male and female, Pepper, Patch, and Lola

1 ball python, female, Ember

10 mice, male and female, Alvin, Simon, Theodore, Chip, Dale, Snoop, Bandit, Sassy, Cho, and Milo

1 rat, female, Buttercup

1 horse, female, Lucky

1 wolf spider, unsure of gender, Moon

4 frogs, unsure of gender, Lily, Kermit, Jake, Spring

1 box turtle, female, Casie

6 chickens, male and female, Bigfoot, Henrietta, Puff, Anita, Allie, and Amy

4 birds male and female, Clyde, Precious, Belle, Bubbles

And an assortment of bugs and insects without names. :)

I love animals and all of the above listed were all very special to me.

Rare Breeds:

Rare Breeds:

$8.83

A rare breed is defined as a breed of livestock that is not common in modern agriculture, though it may have been in the past. Various national and international organizations, such as the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust of the United Kingdom, each define the exact parameters by which a breed may be defined as rare, and many breeds that qualify only have a few thousand or even a few hundreds breeding individuals remaining in the world. These organizations promote conservation of heritage livestock for their unique traits, which may contribute to genetic diversity among animals important to human food supplies and economies, as well as to general biodiversity and improvements in animal husbandry. Livestock refers to one or more domesticated animals, raised in an agricultural setting to produce commodities such as food, hair or wool for textiles, or labor. Livestock are raised for subsistence or for profit, and animal husbandry is an important component of modern agriculture, having been practiced in many cultures since mankind first made the important transition from hunter-gathering to farming. At first, promoting the eating of rare-breed livestock may seem like an odd way of conserving them. But unlike wild animals, farm stock has to pay its way or disappear forever from the planet.

Beautiful Sheep: Portraits of Champion Breeds

Beautiful Sheep: Portraits of Champion Breeds

$20.07

For those in the know, sheep are the stars of the huge annual agricultural shows, as they parade their polished hooves and oiled horns. Swathed in fleeces expertly trimmed and coiffured to accentuate their finer points, "Beautiful Sheep" is a testament that skillful shepherds can create unique and living works of art. There are a great many breeds of sheep, that for centuries provided income from their wool–thus today’s versions are able to produce long heavy fleeces. Likewise, those sheep used primarily for their meat were bred and developed to graze the harsh upland and hill territories well-suited for those climates. All of these breeds are showcased, as never before, in the pages of this collector’s item. No longer will the gentle ovine be reduced to catch phrases about "the black sheep of the family" or "the wolf in the sheep’s clothing"–but now can be appreciated and admired as stunning creatures. A beautiful pictorial of sheep–arranged by breed, with geographical and historical information to complement the images–immaculately presented as stars of the catwalk, the best of the show. The result is an unusual and totally charming book.
