Can I plug an electric guitar into a stereo, DVD player, TV etc, with just a guitar lead?

Coz my amp is off being repaired now, so I want something temporary.
I plugged it into a keyboard and it worked, no distortion though

If it has a built in amp you should be able to, one thing we used to do was plug it straight into the mic jack push down play/record/pause thats for an old tape deck. i also had an old upright keyboard they have the original valve amp set-up inside you can plug straight into the auxillaries of those babies good luck man.
