The main character is a girl that has been living alone on a planet that was being terraformed and prepared for the arrival of colonists. The girl has been genetically modified so that she can survive in the harsh environment. I think that she also has a pet. There is also a AI or robot that acts as a parent to her.

When the first ship of colonists arrive, she forms a relationship with one of them but by the end of the book, she leaves the area because she had become too different from the colonists.

She has double eyelids that she got by being genetically altered since the environment was like a desert.

I remember the cover was blue ( I think) and the girl on the cover wore a metallic gold/silver skin tight jumpsuit.
