Jumping Dog Toy
How can I keep my dog from thinking my kitten is a toy?
I am keeping my kitten in my bedroom and have locks on the inside and outside because my GS/Lab can open doors. My dog thinks she’s a toy, and it looks like she wants to play with her (not in a good way). She jumps and tries to get her and my kitten is very scared. I think when she gets bigger it will be better, but how can I get my dog to leave her alone for now?
you need to introduce them very slowly and for short times at first. I board dogs at my house and I have 3 cats. and for the most part if you introduce the dog slowly and preferably after they have had a good walk and are less excitable they will accept the cat and be okay with it and not want to eat it. the cats are harder they will always be kind of wary of the dogs. mine still jump sometimes when the dogs make sudden movements.
so, walk the dog,keep it on its leash for the first few meetings and have someone hold the cat and make it feel safe. if the cats tarts to freak out too much seperate them. try again after awhile this could take awhile. be patient and good luck!
