Jumper Chihuahua
Chihuahua getting into the litter box….?
I have a new 8 month old rescue chihuahua. My other dog is a basset hound catahoula mix. In the past I’ve been able to hook the door to where it’s just open enough for the Basset to not get in but to where the cat still can-well, this obviously doesn’t work for the chihuahua. She’s a jumper so I’m pretty sure she’ll be able to jump a baby gate. How can I keep her out of the litter box?
The chihuahua cannot stay outside all day long 24/7/365. That’s not the kind of pet owner I am. I just need some ideas (realistic ones) from others to where I can keep the chihuahua in at night. During the day she’s in her crate but I let her out at night.
Normally a covered litter box would work, but one of my cats is 25 pounds (not fat, just BIG AND LONG) so we use rubbermaid containers for litter boxes and they don’t come with covers 
. Thanks for trying though, I really appreciate the suggestion. Any other ideas?
they make taller walk thru baby gates, my minpin can’t fit thru them, and he is tiny. you could also spray around the litter pan with bitter apple, when the dog smells it it will walk away, but to use it you have to spray a lot in your dogs mouth first so they know that the smell means a nasty taste
