Headcollar Lead
Walking my horse out on the road, any advice?
I’m moving yards soon for the winter turn out! It’s only a 20minute walk so i’m going to walk my mare rather than stressing her out trailering her. She’s absolutely bombproof but been out of work so I’m not going to be riding her there.
I’m in the UK and are there any laws when walking out? or the same as hacking?
Is it safe just to use her bridle or should i be using a headcollar and lead rope?
Plus would i walk on the road side on her left like i usually do.

The horse must travel in the same direction as the traffic. The person leading the horse walks to the off side of the horse ( so they are between the horse and the overtaking traffic.)
Reflective or high Vis clothing is recommended.
Hat, boots and gloves.
A bit and bridle is required by law and for insurance purposes for any horse being led on a public highway.
