Headcollar Gentle Control
Gentle Leader Headcollar vs. Easy Walk Harness?
I am trying to decide whether to get my dog (15 pounds) a headcollar or harness to train her to stop pulling on walks, both are made by Gentle Leader. Does anyone have any experience with either, and which should I get?
Also, how effective is the headcollar for controlling barking?
Head collars are better than the easy walker. The easy walker is a pain in the butt with all the straps and contraptions. Though a dog will accept this easier than the head collar in certian situations. The head collar is nice cause the dog will go where his head goes. The only problem with the head collar is that dogs take longer to get used to the head collar and you need to know how tight to have it with out him slipping out of it. Best is to find a trainer that uses head collars, and have them give you a lesson on how to introduce a dog to a head collar. Also having the dog learn basic obediance like heel, will help and eliminate that pulling problem. Get him into training with a professional. A dog is never to old to learn. Head collars and Easy Walkers are just band aids of a more serious problem of a dog not listening to or respecting you. Head collars will NOT control barking at all. You have to controll that with training, its not a muzzle the dog will be allowed to pant and to bite with the head collar. If he is barking at other dogs or just barking for no reason? each reason is a diffrent training practice.
