Should I get a medium or small sized leash and harness set for my mini schnauzer?

She fits into both S size and M size, I am not sure which is better.
she’s one year old.

Train the dog not to pull on the leash and get it a nice leather collar. Harnesses encourage dogs to pull. A properly groomed and trained schnauzer walking on a loose leash is a sight to behold. They are such proud little dogs.

Get a leash that is comfortable to hold in your hands. Stay away from chain as it is heavy and uncomfortable. Plus it drags on the collar. Most women do best with a leash that is 1/2″ or less in width. Since your dog is small, you don’t really need anything larger then then that. Make sure that the snap isn’t overly large or small.

As far as harnesses. I really don’t like them as they encourage dogs to pull. Dogs can be trained to walk properly on a Buckle Collar with a little effort and consistency. Harnesses on the other hand, just lets the dog gig his feet in and pull. Sure there are no pull harnesses, but I’ve seen them rub the area under the front legs raw.
