How do I wash my grooming tools?
Can someone tell me the best way to keep my grooming tools clean? Is there a special cleaner I need to use?
I soak mine in hot water. If they have bristles on them I mix some soap into the water and give them a good scrubbing. Make sure you rinse REALLY well if you are going to wash with soap. I use a stick or the end of a hoof pick to get in between the bristles and pull any dirt or long hairs to the surface where I can scrub them out. when I wash my hard brushes I just hose them down but I keep my brushes clean by wacking or rubbing the dirt off after each grooming. I have a few horses I groom everyday so it’s important that I keep my brushes clean and sanitary if you have a few diffrent horses to keep also you should do the same as it pervents spreading any dirt of skin problems around.
